An Overview of Achilles Tendinopathy Management

Background: Persistent tendon pain and swelling related to mechanical loading are the main signs of Achilles tendinopathy (AT). This condition is one most common tendinopathies lower limb affecting mainly athletes involved in running jumping sports. Methods: we included pivotal papers retrieved from literature (Pubmed, Google Scholar, PEDro, Scopus) present an overview management AT, with a specific focus on conservative management. Results: An accurate timely diagnosis AT necessary set up early treatments manage problem conservatively. Diagnosis primarily based clinical assessment; instrumental imaging may be helpful confirming diagnosis. Conservative treatment effective cases, using physical exercise eccentric training. Other non-surgical such as extracorporeal shock wave therapy, thermotherapies, injections can added exercise. Surgical indicated for patients where at least six months fails. Conclusions: Conflicting results numerous studies hamper identify gold standard asking further well-conducted level I II research about AT.
